Show Juniors A LOOK AT LISTENING PUNK ROCK Our country volunteers were asked to try Rock and Roll, and here is what we found. Chad Bedell: ‘‘It’s o.k. if it has a beat and you can understand what is being said, but alot of Rock music really doesn’t make sense and it stinks.” Michelle Cook: *‘Rock is good, but the people who sing get too involved in their songs and do things they wouldn’t do normally. Penny Murray: ‘‘Sometimes it’s o.k. if you can understand the words and if you want to get away from your problems because it gives you such a big headache you forget everything else.”’ Queeda Chew: “‘Rock music is good if it is quiet, has a beat, and you can understand the words, but most of the time it is too loud and doesn’t have a beat, which makes it just a bunch of noise.”’ Some teachers volunteered their feelings on just what they thought about *‘punk’’. Mr. Hopla: ‘‘Punktudtion is not only important in school English, but will come in handy later in life. Ms. Price: *‘The ultimate, OOH!! AH! Neato! It’s really great!!! Out of this world!! OW!! BABY!!!” Coach Belcher: “‘If we would have had a better punker, we would have won more games this year.”’ Mr. Jameson: ‘‘I think punks are getting out of hand, I mean they just go around shoplifting and robbing.”’ Mr. Reed: ‘‘I never allow my kids to use dangling punkuciples.”’ Miss Shumway: “*Punk?? Oh, you must mean punk’in pie!!!"’ Mrs. Gilbert: ‘““You know you can be arrested for statutory punk.”’ Mrs. Kidd: Como se punka?’’ COUNTRY Our Rocker volunteers tried country and below are their opinions. Lisa Hatch: ‘‘I like it sometimes, but it depends on who is singing it.”’ Jerome Davis: ‘‘Some country is great, but I'd put Rock in front of it any day, it’s perpetually excellent.”’ Darrin Caldwell: ‘*] hate it, they sound like they are dying. I think they play it in prison as punishment.”’ Janet Slaugh: ‘‘I like country sometimes because you can sing along, but Rock is my favorite.’ Stacey Dillon: I don’t like country because it’s hard to dance to and it sounds like they are singing through their noses.”’ Gary Galley: ‘“‘There are a few good groups, I can’t think of any at the moment, but there are a few, anyway Rock and Roll is still number 1!!"’ Brent Rhodes 2 Marilyn Rich | ?
