Show The Steering Committee has suggested the follo'v\1ing system to expedite numerous phone calls and keep accurate records of volunteer hours: A CALENDAR OF SCHEDULED TOURS for the month "'1i11 be mailed to all ( Docents. It Vvill be your individual responsibility to CALL THE CHAIRPERSON Vvitll your commitment for two tours per week . ON THE CALENDAR) THERE WILL BE A SPACE FOR YOU TO NOTE THE TOURS YOU HA VE AGREED TO GIVE, AND NOTE THE TI1viE YOU VOLUNTEER IN TRAINING, TOURING, TAKING CLASSES, ETC. THIS WILL GIVE US THE INFORMATION WE NEED FOR RECORDS_FOR EACH MONTH. This calendar should be returned to your Daily Chairperson at the end of each month. ( In order to make Daily Team workshops advantageous, vve will NOT schedule tours during mornings when Daily Team worltshops are to be held. However, ADV AN CED DOCENT TRAINING Vo.Till be given every Thursday from 1:00-3:00 next year. Included in tllis Advanced Docent Training will be Art History information, visits by artists to discuss aesthetics and motivation, more field trips within Utah, and presentations by other Docents in areas of tl1e co Hect.ion. Coming for ACTIVE DOCENTS ONLY ...... a trip to Boston for the National Art Education Association meetings, approximately April 2 1-2 7th. The Museum Education Division of NAEA off er~; concurrent sessions in topics of interest to Museum professionals and volunteers, and tl1ere will also be an all-day session in the Boston MFA for volunteers only "Docent Day in the Museum", ·with leadership by Museum Professionals across tl1e Nation. There are Higher Education met tings . International Museum meetings> Elementary Art Education, hands-on Vv"orkshops in v..ratercolor, clay, etc, for adults to learn techniques to use Vvitl1 children (but are fun for the adults..too !) and bus tours of the Boston area . No doubt this trip Vvill cost between $800-$1000 for five-six days, so save your pennies! MUSEUM IN THE CLASSROOM If you are interested in learning one new classroom presentation for elementary or secondary level schools, and giving the presentation occasionally during the year . please contact Ann Stewart during June. We 'Nill be offering training before September. If you have a particular interest of your ovm that you woukl like to develop, let us know tl1at,too!
