Show ( HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAM EXPANDS The successful East High Humanities enrichment program has been evaluated, and a similar program wi11 be offered to other high schools. Kaye Terry and Kathy Ashton are coordinating this effort with the teachers who have applied. We are please to be ab1e to reach high school students in this educat iona 1outreach program, and expect they w i 11 be making more visits to the galleries during the coming year. The program includes classroom lectures and guided tours, focusing on specific aspects of the collection tr,at relate to classroom studies. TREASURES AND TRIFLES SALE WILL BE HELD IN THE SPRING, BUT DONATION OF ANYTH/N6 CAN BE PICKED UP THIS SUMMER AND FALL BY THE MUSEUM VAN. IF YOU ARE CLEANING, OR YOUR NEIGHBORS ARE MOVING, PLEASE REMEMBER THE TAX-DEDUCTIBLE GIFT TO THE MUSEUM FOR RE-SALE. MUSEUM DOCENT TRAINING SEMINAR BEGINS OCT. 3 ( A class is being formed that includes members of last spr1ng·s training group with additional members beginning this fall. From your recommendations, applications were sent to about thirty people, with eight joining the class. There is still time for others to jo1n the class. Act1ve Docents are welcome to attend any class sess1on; a syllabus wtll be in your file folder at the Sept. 12 meeting . .... DAILY TEAM WORKSHOPS SCHEDULED TO BEGIN SEPT. 17TH Plan to be 1n the Museum on your des1gnated morning, begtnning Tuesday, September 17th at 9:30 a.m. workshops designed to help you help v1sltors learn to see works of art, and to extend your knowledge of the Museum·s collection w111 be held weekly. We willbe trying several new approaches, espectally those to be used with the multt-vis1t program. BRING YOUR NAME TAGS AND LEAVE THEM ON THE BOARDI The Docent area has been re-organized, with a desk, telephone, worktable, Docent Resource File, new Tour Board, and bullet1n boards. Although small, this area should accommodate the immed1ate needs of datly teams to meet together, plan, discuss, and gather information. You are welcome to use thls area for your own study at any t1me. COPIES OF THE GOOD GUIDE ARE AVAILABLE If you ordered or were given a copy of "The Good Guide", they are in Sue·s office now. Be sure you check your copy out with Sue before tak tng it. |
