Show 117 She traced the small perimeter of the building's insides. There were beer bottles and fast food wrappers on the floor. Someone had painted a Jesus mural that said Live to Love, Love to Live. Erin stepped outside and shot her gun into the side of the house. The sound was loud but the lake was closed at night and she was far away from anybody. She kept shooting. After she was out of ammunition, she walked down to the lake. She saw a glimpse of her reflection thanks to the moonlight and posed with the gun pointing in different directions. Then she threw the gun as far as she could throw it into the water. She crouched down and washed her hands, stood up and took a cigarette out of her bag. She held it in her long fingers and snapped the lighter with her thumb. After she finished smoking she still had half a pack to go, but instead of putting them away she threw the cigarettes one-by-one into the water after the gun. She wouldn't be needing those in New York either. |
