Show 3 The Jury spent the entire day ofjflarch 17th and very " thoroughly and carefully examined the seven sets or drawings presented. After this careful consideration, the Jury ballotted for the award of lst, second, third and fourth places with the result that first place was ararded to the design submitted by flessrs. Anderson and Young; second place to hessrs. Pepe and Burton; third place to Messrs. Hoogson and HcClanahqn, and the fourth prize was divided betwean hassrs. Woolley and Evans, and Messrs., Ashton and Evans. The program of the Competition provides that tho decision of the Jury shall be final and that the contract shall be awarded to the architect awarded first place. In behalf of the Building Tm Committee and of the jury I, therefore, recommend that the Chair- man and Secretary of the guard be authorized to sign a contract with Hessrs. Anderson and Young, Architocts, to design the building ;. and supervise the execution'of the work as provided in the Program } and that the Building Committee be authorized to confer with the l" architects and with the faculty as well as with such.members of the ‘ Board as may be interested, upon the plans until they are all ready fbr final presontation to the Board. Dear Sirs: he, the jury in tho competition for an Auditorium Building IOr the University of Utah, herewith submit our report. 53' .5 "? ‘ ' The jury met and organized at 9:00 a.m., harch 17, 1928. ‘Mr. D. H. Christcnsan was chairman of the Jury, and hr. Thomas Hull, Secretary. The foronoon session was devotoé to informal, very frat, and vcry full discussion of all the plans submitted, the same having been received, opcned, and put on display by Walter B. hare, acting for W. 3. Fisher, tho professional adviser. hr. Wore's report, to the effect thot the designs submitted had complied with the program conditions, was considered by the jury and homo was excluéod. There were seven sots of érawings submitted. ' The forenoon session closed at 12:50. The afternoon session convened at 1:30. After rehearsing the morning's study, the jury ballottod, as provided by the program, with the result that the set of drawings marked No. 3 was placeo first; the set or drawings marked No. 6 was placed socomd; the set of draw~ _1 fii- ings marked No. 3 was placed third; and the sets of drawings marked ‘ Ho. 1 and 5 were given equal value. Immediately following the ballot, tho anvclopos containing the identification cards and affidavits of tho conpctitors, which had been_ in the custody of secrotary Hull, were oponed, and the authors of Design Ho. 2 were found to be Hessrs.
