Show 283 " Q. What caution you to have trouble there? " A. We ran on a bar, on the San Rafael bar; Mr. Rose was at the wheel at the time. R 733. " Q. In this trip up did you do any damage to your boat? " A. Yes sir. " Q. What damage did you do to it? " A. Broke the propeller blades off." R. 733. At the San Rafael bar the blades were broken from one of the propellers. The boat, after getting off the bar, proceeded up the Green River to Halverson's Ranch, where it was tied up and left. The boat was remodeled at Halverson's Ranch. A Scotch- marine boiler was used to generate steam power and a stern paddle wheel put on the boat in place of propellers. After the boat was remodeled another trip down the river was started and the same troubles encountered as on the first trip. R. 733- 736. " Q. Did you have any trouble between Halverson bar and the mouth of the San Rafael? Did you ground any place in there? " A. I don't remember now whether we did or not - yes, we did stick there; we stuck there, too, that second time, I believe, because another boat coming down, he got stuck on the bar there too, a fellow named Ottenheimer. " Q. What kind of boat did he have? |
