Show The 1985 Pilgrimage The following reconstruction of the route followed during the pilgrimage of 1985 was developed by using interviews made with participants (cited throughout this report), a ground reconnaissance, and a survey made by helicopter. The ground reconnaissance was carried out with the help of cartographer Ronald L. Stauber, archaeologist T. J. Ferguson, Zuni Fish and Wildlife Ranger Andrew Othole, Komosona Ben Kallestewa, and Kopekwin John Niiha. During the air reconnaissance the author was accompanied by Mr. Ferguson, Mr. Othole, Solen Lalio (Koyemshi), Zuni Tribal Councilman Charles Hustito, historian Dr. Floyd A. O'Neil, Bureau of Indian Affairs Zuni Superintendent Jerry J. Cordova, pilot Vern Mundt, and United States Attorney Hank Meshorer. 228 The participants in the pilgrimage in 1985 were identified by Henry Yawakia, one of the permanent participants.
