Show 82 concerning the ceremonies and religious activities accompanying the pilgrimage. The Komosona (also known as Kiva Chief) and his important assistant the Kopekwin are in charge of the pilgrimage. Today those who occupy those offices, for life, are respectively Ben Kallestewa and John Niiha. The author has conducted numerous interviews over the past three years on the subject of Kolhu/walatwa with Mr. Kallestewa, Mr. Niiha and many other Zunis, including most of the important religious leaders associated with the ceremonies relating to Kolhu/walatwa (these interviews are cited throughout this report). Zunis cannot go on the trail without having the express permission from those in charge, and then they must make and plant prayer sticks if they go. Sacrificial offerings must be made during the 82.
