Show merely show the per - dollar distribution of purchases. If one starts with a sector at the top of the table and reads down a column, he may view these numbers as the required per- dollar inputs from each of the sectors at the left for a one - dollar output for the sector at the top of the table. These are often called the production or technical coefficients. The technical coefficients can be understood by examination of the number in Appendix Table 2 at the intersection of column 2 and row 1-- 0.20911. This number represents the direct requirements of the Dairy and Poultry sector from the Crops and Others sector. Thus, for each dollar of output in the Dairy and Poultry sector, $ 0,209 worth of input is required from the Crops and Others sector. Appendix Table 3: Direct and Indirect Requirements Per Dollar of Final Demand, Utah, 1963 The third table shows the sum of the direct and indirect purchases stimulated by a dollar change in final demand in each sector. The purpose of Appendix Table 3 is to provide the basic information necessary for determining the impact on the various sectors resulting from a change in the output level of any one of the sectors. It will be recalled that Appendix Table 2 reflects the direct purchases of each sector. The difference between Appendix Table 2 and Appendix Table 3 is that the latter table includes not only the direct purchases but also the indirect purchases per dollar of final demand. Indirect purchases refer to all other changes necessitated by an original adjustment in the level of demand. 71 |
