Show out of Utah. The Inventory Depletion and Capital Consumption sectors are characterized by the depletion of a previous period's production during the current survey period and thus do not directly affect the current period's production relationships. The final payments to the Federal Government sector and to the State and Local Government sector are also outside of the immediate production and purchasing of goods and services, i. e., their present level is not determined by the purchases made by the various sectors. Total Gross Output and Total Gross Outlays The final column, Total Gross Output, shows for each sector the total dollar value of output. The final row, Total Gross Outlays, shows the total dollar value of outlays by each sector. Note that the Total Gross Output and the Total Gross Outlays for each of the 39 Processing sectors are equal. For example, Sector 2 added horizontally indicates a total output value of $ 62,447,000 for the Dairy and Poultry sector. Likewise, Sector 2 added vertically shows the same total, $ 62,447,000, as the value of all purchases from the Dairy and Poultry sector. There is not, however, a necessary balance in the individual sectors of the final demand and final payments portions of the table. For example, state and local government outlays ( added vertically) of $ 341,919,000 and state and local government gross output ( added horizontally) of $ 331,905,000 are not equal. But the total final demand of $ 5,399,411,000 is equal to total final payments of $ 5,399,411,000. Appendix Table 2: Direct Requirements Per Dollar Output, Utah, 1963 The second input- output table -- Direct Requirements Per Dollar Output -- is derived from Appendix Table 1, the transactions table.
