Show 30 per cent. Exceptions to this are on the one end, Sector 23, Electricity, Natural Gas and Sanitation, with a 71 per cent increase, and on the other end, Sector 11, Ordnance and Transportation Equipment, with only a 1 per cent increase projected. Projected increase in total water intake demand for the state as a whole amounts to some 1,455,000 acre feet ( 476,500 millions of gallons). Perhaps, as expected, the bulk ( 82 per cent) of this is embodied in the increased output of the Crops sector, some 1,203,000 acre feet. Only 6 per cent of this increased demand for water is directly tied to the projected increase in the final demand for crops; most of this new water demand is indirectly linked to the Crops sector through the increased demand on the part of the Household sector for products from the Food Manufacturing, Livestock, Dairy and Poultry Production sectors and Retail Trade sector. Some of the increased water demand is also generated by exports from the Food Manufacturing, Livestock, and Trade sectors. Considering the non- crop increased water intake demand, i. e., the balance of 252,000 acre feet, significant increases in water demands are projected for Primary Metals Manufacture ( 60,400 acre feet), Households ( 53,200) acre feet), Electricity, Natural Gas and Sanitation ( 21,800 acre feet), Chemical Manufacture ( 21,100 acre feet), Metal Mining ( 18,000 acre feet), Food Manufacturing ( 10,900 acre feet), Stone and Clay Manufacturing ( 7,500 acre feet), and Non- metal Mining ( 6,800 acre feet). These eight sectors contribute over 80 per cent of the non- crop increase in water demand; it should be noted that their contribution to the increase in total output is also significant. 44 |
