May, 3, 1905.<br><br> Mr Geo Sweazy [sic], <br> Salt Lake City, Utah. <br><br> Dear Sir:- Mr Elder tells me that he has written to you concerning a position in the Salt Lake Collegiate Institute, and asks me to tell you something about his character and ability. <br><br> In the first place he is an honest man in the fullest sense of that word, and a thorough Christian, a member of the United Presbyterian church and an active member of the Y.M.C.A.. If you want a good man to take charge of the athletics of the institution I should have no hesitation in recommending him. He has been a member of every college team, some time during his course, and his reputation along that line is a good one. His gymnasium experience has extended over three years, the last of which was as physical director here, and the other two as assistant, one year here and one year at Carlton College. <br><br> His college life has been spent in a dormitory, so that he knows as much about that kind of life as one could without having been actually in charge of a crowd of boys. <br><br> Last of all he is a man who is not afraid of work. <br><br> If there is anything you would like to know further about him I should be glad to have you write me about it, and I am sure any of the other members of the faculty would do the same on account of the high standing Mr Elder has always maintained. <br><br> Very Sincerely, <br> J.S.
