McN.- <br><br> The Board of Trustees at Salt Lake being so far away* are unable to act intelligently on his requests, and if they take action, that action will largely be influenced by the way in which the Financial Agent presents the case to them. They will have to take it and form their judgment largely upon his judgment and presentation. I think it would be much better for the Trustees, when they meet, to appoint Gen. Eaton, Dr. Gordon and myself, a Committee of the Board of Trustees for the management of the Washington property. Then, if it seemed to Dr. Gordon advisable to sell a certain piece of property and use the proceeds in the development of other portions of the property; or if he wished to build on certain unimproved property to increase the income of the property; or if he wishe to repair property belonging to the institution, instead of writing to Salt Lake he could confer with Gen. Eaton and myself, and in that way the matter would be settled by those who are in touch with the property and are acquainted with the conditions existing in Washington. I think that it would save the Board a good deal of worry and would secure the best results for the college, and if the Trustees desired to make it doubly secure, they might require that for the sale of any portion of the property, there should be a unanimous agreement on the part of this committee of three in Washington. I think that that would safeguard the interests of the institution. <br> I trust that Gen. Eaton will visit you immediately after the Assembly, and that while he is in Salt Lake you may be able to lay the Corner Stone of Eaton Hall.
