Show EDWIN CANNON "NED" WINDER 22 01 chairman of that. And I said I had boxed a little in high school and ut I id, I haven't a great knowledge of that. He said, "That's why we want to have you. H id Y u get somebody that knows it all ... " And I had two assistants and we were the ne that administered the arrangements of fights held in Utah having them licensed and checked and it was during the Fullmer era when we had, there was a lot of fight activity. And on TV even had Tuesday and Thursday fights on television. So there was really quite a lot of interest. And, of course, locally, Fullmer was the big buy and Rex Lane, he was kind of out of his, a little too old but several other fighters who had some notoriety. So we had to regulate all of that. It was an interesting job. BEC: Geez. I didn't know you had a connection to boxing. I lived, I had a neighbor at one point, I can't remember his last name but his first name is Lamar. NED: BEC: NED: BEC: NED: Lamar Clark. Yes. Yeah. I was trying to think of his name just now, Becky. Is that right? I said Rex Lane. Lamar Clark had a marvelous record for knockouts and he fought, who did he fight? Somebody in Ogden in the Ogden stadium. We were in charge of it. And I have never seen such a blood bath as that. He was a-is he your neighbor? BEC: He used to be years and years ago. NED: Because, tell him hello. I'm sure he'd remember me. BEC: Oh, I'm sure he would. 57 |
