Show EDWIN CANNON "NED" WI D R B R 22 2 1 BEC: Oh wow. NED: He was a good poker player. BEC: Huh. Now did your brother make it back? He was in th Marin s? NED: Yeah, it was interesting. My mother was so frightened about him being in th Marines and she was so glad I went in the Navy where I'd have a dry bed to sleep on and I d be safe. My brother went to, well, he was over in the, not Marianas, but he was in Noemfoor which is in the Caroline Islands and he had a little bit of, a couple of attacks, but nothing very serious. It was kind of a piece of cake for him and I was up getting shot up. We've kidded Mom about that many times. BEC: NED: BEC: NED: Really. She was worried about him and not about me. (laughs) When did your father pass away? Oh, my mother died when I was on a mission, mission president in Florida in 1966, and my dad died about eighteen years later. And he married a lady that, Mom and Dad had been going with a couple and she lost her husband to a heart attack in Hawaii when they were on a mission and Mom died of cancer and some enterprising matron invited Dad and Pearl, this widow, to a dinner and they started dating and they got married for time only in the temple and had a happy eighteen years together. They decided when they got married they arranged all their financial affairs that everything that she had, she'd work with her family and everything-you know, that pre-marriage? BEC: Pre-nuptial agreement. NED: yeah. I don't favor that with freshly-married people but that's good in the case of them, where she was married to a guy who was with Wasatch Oil that sold to Phillips and 53 |
