Wellington, and sold by William Taylor, 1719 English dramatist John Vanbrugh is better known today as the architect of Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire and Castle Howard in Yorkshire. His comedies were favorites of the Restoration period but also caused controversy. They were deemed sexually explicit and, worse, defended a woman's rights within marriage.
