The iiovekment hoardinrschool had<losed for the sum- Klamath, 0reg.-Location excellent; has magnificent spring water and hemtiful surroundings. A new dormitory is needed for the boys. The industrial tmin' gardening. and farming is made a prominent feature. Dai ing is also taught.3k; girls are instructed in all branches of domestic work 897 also in all branches of butter making. The Couieeof Study is followed as far as pmihle and is found to he very helpful. Inmoral tone wd in matters of discipline andgeneral management this school stands deservedly high. Fainax, Ore Location, undesirable. Water poor. Buildings old and incom-modioua. ~ n tbeztte r water can be provided,'it will be wise to wnsolidate this school with the Klamath School. The moral tone is excellent, and also discipline. The industrial training is carried on as far as poasihle with limited facilities. Port Bidwell, Gal.-Location is excellent, buildings in good repair, and fine land I ! for farming, gardening, and stock raising. Water is excellent and in abundance. This school should have from 100 to 150 pupils, and, if prejudice of Indians can he overcome, will easily accommodate that number. Under the preaent superintendent I the surroundings have been gwatly im roved by the removal of several amps of Indians in too close proximity to the sciool. Moral tone and discipline are of the best. The course of study is followed as far as racticahle. Round Valley, (31.-Good location, yo< l?n&nd good water. New schoolroom and assembly hall needed. Industria traln~nge ven to boys in farming, gardening, and care of stock, and to the girls in household duties, sewing, etc. Indlans are very friendly to the school and its work. The general management as well as the moral tone of the ~chaails distinctly creditable. Hoopa Valley, Cd.-Location good and water abundant. Some of the buildings a n old and unsuitable. Boys' dormitory is in an old warehouse, scarcely habitable, A new dormitory for the boys should be built at once. The industrial trainingfor boys in shops and on farm and garden, and for girls in domestic pursuits and ra~sing poultry, is excellent, wnsidering facilities. The management as well as the moral toned the school is excellent. Indqmdence Day School, Calgmn*c.-Buildin , erected by Indians, oidandunsuit-able; new building required. Big Pine Day School, Cal$mnia.--School huildi here was ereeted hy Indians amisted by whites. A well is greatly needed st %e school. Clw-room work is creditable. Pupils are taught sewing, mending, eta. Moral tone good; discipline excellent. Bishop Day S&ochool,~$mia.-Building owned by Indian A4miation of California. Teacher has resided and tau8ht here for about ten years. Religious exercises con-ducted b Presbvterian misslonary are held each morning for one-half hour. Moral tone gooland discipline excellent. YI'dka River Day School, Nevada.-Buildings in a fair condition. Moral tone fair; discipline fair. With poasibly one exception these schools are accomplishing great good, and their influence is being felt not only with the pupils, hut with their parents, who are gradually growing out of their old-time customs and are adoptjug, civilized methods and habits. Citizens generally among whom the Indians are livmgattest this fact. Carson CUy, Nm.-Location not of the best. Water scarce. Land sandy and poor. New schoolroom and assembly hall and hospital have been provided for, as well as an increase of water supply for irrigation, etc. Class-room work is creditahle. Riverside, Ca1.-Location of school is excellent. Climate superb. ~nvironment is of the best. With a population of over 10,000, Riverside has not a single saloon.
