Show 26U. of U. Chronicle Year Book '08 ClassAST fall a bunch of green Freshmen entered the Library building and withering under the cold and deliberate scrutiny of upper classmen and Profs., registered for their year's work. They had only started the grind when the "foremost class of all" ( ?) issued a challenge to the awkward, dreaming little youths of *o8 for a class rush. Perhaps the "foremosts" thought we should not dare buck up against them, but needless to say, the challenge was accepted, and the first U. of U. and the never to be forgotten '07-^08 flag rush resulted. After ten minutes of fierce struggling in clouds of dust, the challengers were fonnd to be the victors by a narrow margin, having overcome the game Freshmen by sheer force of numbers. In the class series of football games, the '08 team surprised their friends, and more than surprised their opponents by the fast, snappy, and clever playing which won them second place. It was about this time that the smart Red and White caps made their appearance at the Boulder-University football game and under each one was a good, live '08 rooter. In the social line the Freshman party was acknowledged to be the swellest, if not the most elaborate and showy, of the University social season. But the ability of the Freshmen is not limited to the ballroom alone, for in the annual class track meet they even won third place and enjoyed the immense pleasure of seeing the "foremost class of all" shut out with a big o.But our green days are over, and you will hear from the Sophomores next year. |
