The boys had changed, too. They were not mere boys, but men, determined to succeed.Before two weeks had passed, we met in a body and elected for our president, an Art student. In a short time it became evident that there would be an upheaval if our president remained in office. Without more ado, he resigned, and we elected in his stead, Hyrum Snydergaard. For awhile the Art students were our enemies, but through our sociable natures and friendly dispositions, we soon gained their friendship, and had several enjoyable hops together. This year was eminently successful, and though our work was somewhat harder than in other years, we enjoyed it. Many hours were spent in listening to Dr. Parsons' interesting lectures, and we consider ourselves fortunate in having had so excellent a professor. How often have we burned the midnight oil studying for Dr. Talmage, but who would not, for such a man as he?Between preparation for History and English C, the boys found time to think about certain other Normals, and vice versa. Indeed, the Class was not found lacking in its usual crop of love affairs.How quickly this school year passed. So it was that last September we came back to the old 'Varsity halls. When our first meeting opened, we were pleased to see that twenty-four jolly High School girls and one boy had joined us. Of course, this meeting was for the purpose of electing Class officers for our last year. Julian Cummings was chosen president; Rufus Leigh, of the Branch Normal, vice-president ; and Bess Beesley, of the Salt Lake High School, secretary.Our first social event took place two weeks after the opening of school, in the Kindergarten room. The purpose of the sociable was to get acquainted-which we certainly did. It was an informal hop-ice cream, cake, fruit, and punch being served.The Training School was a puzzle; and Special Methods! what kind of study was it?
