Show LOUIS ZUCKER #3 fact. with Rabbi Lux there was a partnership between him and me. For instance, when Elia Salmons, an Israeli boy who came here with almost nothing, came here to be a student of civil engineering, Rabbi Lux and I watched over Elia. Rabbi Lux included me in watching over Elia. When Elia's brother came over, I helped to bring him over because I had to give assurances to the University of Utah that the boy could make the grade here at the university. How much English did he know, and so forth. I took Elia's word for it; but Elia's word was a little optimistic. To make a long story short, we are still in close association with his younger brother Raffael who stayed in America. Elia went back. He is an important man in Israel with a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan. These boys had determination, and they made it. Raffael has a Ph.D. now, and he is a big man in government in resource development. He and his wife, we are very good friends. Whenever they move to a new house, they always let us know, "We have got a room for you. "You come and it is your room." We are very happy about that. We had a chance to reunite with them in New Jersey. They live now just a few miles from where my sister lives in New Jersey, so we had a reunion. we have a room waiting for us there when we go East again, and so 102 |
