Show Polka under the stars 1993 Slavic Festival moves to new location: Block 57 Slavic delicacies, ethnic arts and crafts and polka dancing under the stars all add up to the Zivio Ethnic Arts Ensemble's 11th Annual Slavic Festival June 18-19, at a new location: One Utah Center Plaza, 36 E. 200 South, Salt Lake City. The event begins June 18 at 7 p.m.; then continues from noon June 19. Admission is $3 for adults; $2 for children ~ and seniors. Tempting Slavic foods, such as stuffed cabbage, barbecued lamb and pork, pirogi (stuffed dumplings) as well as pastries and Turkish coffee will again be featured in the many booths at the festival. The event's annual sponsor, the Zivio Ethnic Arts Ensemble, will perform folk dances of the Balkans. Guest artists include the Narodna International Dancers, the Rocky Mountain Polka Express, Richard Kaumo from Rock springs, Wyoming and guest musicians, Dunav, from the San Francisco area. Supported by a grant from the Utah Arts Council, the festival celebrates the -heritage of Utah residents whose ancestry originates in the Slavic countries (Belarus, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgana, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Macedonia, Montenegro, Poland, Russia, Serbia, Slovenia, Slovakia and Ukraine). Live music and dancing will be presented both days, and the public will be able to learn and particiapte in Balkan folkdancing. It's bound to be the largest polka party on theW asatch Front!
