Pucci (b. 1898) was born in Italy. He came to this country in 1915 to work on the Southern Pacific railroad. He talks about section men and section houses, train accidents, Italians in Ogden, the Promontory station, the Lucin Cutoff, Italian social life, and a trip back to Italy. Interviewed by Greg Thompson and Phil Notarianni. 42 pages. |

Show -24- PUCCI N: You didn't have any trouble with any prejudices or anything? P: I didn't have any trouble. None whatsoever. N: What do you remember about Promontory? You mentioned the section house for the men and for the foreman, do you remember the water tower up there? P: Yes, they had a water tower at Promontory, yes. N: Can you remember about where that was? T: Was that south of the tracks or north of the tracks? P: Well, let' see, I believe it was south of the tracks. T: Now where would it have been in relation to the store? Would it have been east of the store or west of the store? P: Like we'll say this was the track. T: Right. P: Oh this side there was the section houses. T: North side of the tracks. P: North side of the tracks and then the store was on tre south side of the track~, just a little bit off, kind of east side of the section house, you know what I mean, but not very far east, now if I remember exactly, now it's bemseveral years ago. T: Was it close to the section houses on the same side of the track or was it .•• ? P: You mean the store? T: No, the water tower . P: No, the water tower was on the same side with the store. T: Same side as the store. N: Can you remember any of the sidings up there, qid ' they have a "Y" siding? |
