Pucci (b. 1898) was born in Italy. He came to this country in 1915 to work on the Southern Pacific railroad. He talks about section men and section houses, train accidents, Italians in Ogden, the Promontory station, the Lucin Cutoff, Italian social life, and a trip back to Italy. Interviewed by Greg Thompson and Phil Notarianni. 42 pages. |

Show -10- PUCCI N: Mid lake. P: If I remember exactly, that's a few years ago, and I might be a little bit off but I think it was about 1918, and I went to Corinne. T: You went to Corinne. Wow. N: What was Corinne like in 1918. P: What? N: What was it like, how was that area at Corinne? T: Were there a lot of people there? P: You mean in Corinne? N: Yeso P: Well, that was quite a little town. N: Was it? P: Yes~- N: A couple thousand people would you say? P: Well, I don't know just exactly but it was quite a nice little town, and I think it's still about the same. T: Was the train depot theE pretty active? P: Yes sir, they had a train depot there. They had the Southern'facific. They · had the like what I told you, mixed train on Monday going over · to Montello and on Tuesday coming back. T: I see, it took two days, one day up and one day back. P: Yes. Well, see they'd laid over at Montello qyer night, see, and then they'd come back into Brigham City. That's What they used to •.• they used to come into Brigham City and then sometimes run the engine, the light engine into Ogden. |
