Show On December 13, 1907; the department approved the recommenda-tion of the office that the Indians of the Osage Agency, Okla., be given possession and control of their selections from the date of their confirmation by the allotting commission, and t6at pending the ap-proval of their selections they he permitted to lease them for a period of one year from April 1: 1908. , Under the act of February 28, 1891 (26 Stat. L., 794), as amended by the acts of June 7, 1897 (30 Stat. L., 85), and May 31, 1900 (81 Stat. L., 229), the terms for which allotted lands may he leased are limited to three years for grazing and five years for farming pur-poses, except unimproved allotments on the Yakima Reservation in Washington, which may be leased for agricultural purposes for any term not exceeding ten years, on such terms and conditions as may be prescribed by the Secretary of the Interior. The act of April 30, 1908 (35 Stat. L., SO), authorizes the leasing of allotted lands suscep-tible of irrigation in the former Uintah and Uncompahgre reserva-tions in Utah, by the Secretary of the Interior with the consent of the allottee, for terms not exceeding ten years; and the same act extends the term for leasing lands susceptible of irrigation on the Shoshoni or Wind River Reservation in Wyoming for cultivation under irri-gation for terms not exdeeding twenty years, in the discretion of the Secretary of the Interior.
