Camp Scott. Utah T., 31si April 1858 D ear Anne, 7" No other news since I wrote to you about a fortnight since -No other express has uxne in from Alfred. The rumor here is that he is imprisoned-which I do not believe, as he told me of matters which would be very likely to detain him even several days beyond this time. These matters were not to be spoken of to any on-therefore people in general have no means of accounting for his absence but by imprisonment. Besides he pm me, if imprisoned, he would send far me directly--a measure not at all likely to be opposed by the Mormons! I can truly say, however, that I do not ice1 anxious 4 mention this only because, as letters go to the States to- mmmw, & as this rumor is frequently spakcn of, the "letter writers" will be likely lo mention it. Our weather here has been Spring like-Grass is every direction to be seen. People making preparation for warm 51 |
