Spoke with them concerning pre[p]arations for celebration 24 inst. wrote to Allen Taylor, to See George Allen, & find out who the 23 5 or 10 acre lotts belong too, which lie between v the Willard Richards pasture & the State Road as I wish to purchase them. weather fine though rather warm for comfort, Tuesday 14. I feel very well to day. The are [air] was quite Sultry from a high South wind attended to buisness, Bros Heber and Daniel spent part of day here. councilled Some of the bretheren on various matters of buisness. Purchased a fine Shay topped buggy from brom Golding. Rec[eived] letters from Bros. Rufus C Allen, & James 4v Lewis of Iron Co learnjed] from bro Rufus that the the mission on the Santa Clara is prospering. Bro Lewis wanted Some council what to do with about $1000 of consecrated property as the widow was to [receive] Support out of it. Decided who Should be candidate for representing G. S. L. Co. next Session in the Legislature. See House roll, Also J M Bernhisel for our delegate to congruss4" Gave Some directions about Printing tickets 4"Followin~ up on the decision of thr "election" of Utah'? delegate to C&qeFs and othrr officeq, Brighaln Young sent the following lcttw to Isaac C. Haight, Esquire, Gdar City, Iron County on July 15, 1857. It should be noted that Haight was stake presidrnt and also an officer in the Iron County militia. "Dear Brother "You will prrceive by the Dcseret News hereuith forwarded that Hon. John M. Bemhisel is nominatrd for rc-election to the office of Delqate to Congrrss which we plcsutne uill meet jvith the United and hearty cuppolt of all the people. It is al50 ou1 wish that Gorge A.
