Brown departed for [the] Black Hills,23 and I requested my Son Jos. A to act as my and Archir Gardner. Their first s d\l mill way on Mill Creek; later they built one on the Jordan River and operated a small gristmill in conjunction with it. In 1862 Robert Gardner v,a\ called to St. George, Utah, but returned to Mill Cteck in 1863 to sell his nlill to Brigham Young. Hr asked $8,000.
