Show READING ROOM (24-27) The reading room appears to be in better condition than the weight room. This is deceiving, however, because the walls and ceiling have recently been replastered. There are numerous fine cracks in both which indicate that problems do still exist in the layers underneath. The hayloft door has a hinged opening, however the inside door frame is a replacement. Based on its similarities to the rear second story door, it probably was originally a sliding door. The window at the east end is eight-over-eight double hung, and a blue shag carpet is laid down over gray industrial carpet. Below the two layers, which are not tacked or glued, the original hardwood floor remains. 27 |
