"Finks!" he said over his shoulder as the others went on, laughing their heads off. "Who needs •em?" Parker tried but couldn't wipe the smile off his own face. They stopped at their lockers, which were only yards apart, but Derek's wouldn't open. "Bitch!" he hissed at number 238, rattling the handle good before attacking the combination again. "Try kicking it," Parker recommended as he went on to class. He nodded at Jan and Amy next, who were so deep in conversation at the coke machine they hardly acknowledged him. Amy worked in the counselling center every day during Second period, had for two years. Each morning after Simpson's class she stopped off at the bank of vending machines for a coke. How would it be? Parker sighed. He'd hardly got into his chemistry lab when Jan was there beside him, asking if h£ knew what had happened with Dyna first period. "She really went tearing out of the room, didn't she?" Jan dropped her books on his lab table, glanced over her shoulder. "Do you know what Amy just told me?" Parker sat down on the stool and waited, knowing he was about to be enlightened.
