Show her beach robe and became a revelation. "Oh my God," gasped Mrs. Jovanovic putting a hand to her mouth. The people on each side looked at Delilah. "What's wrong?" she asked looking worried. "Your swim suit. It is like no swim suit." "It's not much different from my others." "But your others... well... this is very small and the color is the same as your skin." "But it's not my skin, and look," Delilah motioned to some of the stouter men and women who were in turn staring at her, "there's more of those people hanging out of their suits than there is of me showing." It was true. A high percentage of over-weight people, women and men, were revealed in a manner unthinkable twenty feet from the beach. "You told me," Delilah said, "that everyone has a right to enjoy the sun and the water unembarrassed, no matter what the condition of their bodies." "Yes Delilah but I was speaking of bodies in worse condition than yours. Look! People are staring at you and all these young men, some are beginning to walk this way". "That's because you're making such a fuss. Let's just lie down and this will blow over." Both women lay down on their stomachs and closed their eyes to the situation. Within the hour the sun was prickling Mrs. Jovanovic's back into a heat rash and she rolled over to find a wall of men staring down at Delilah. |
