Show PAPERMAKIN BY HAN IN AMERIC 1 The poem by R ichard Frame does not mention the R ittenhouse mil by name, nor do the twenty-four lines of bucolic verse give any detail relative to theart of papermaking; the poem s fnteresting only becaus itappeared at the time of the foundin of the first paper mill in AngloAmerica Another contemporary writer to compfle a poem that touched o the craft of makin pape was John Holme, who, fn 1696 wrote a serfe i 2 Historical Socfety of Pennsylvanta, Philadelphia December 1847. The stanza that refer to the paper mill bears the concfse heading, "Printer"and reads If he can get good store of rags Kind friend, when thy old shift fs ren Let it to th' paper mill be sent e Province, The paragraph devoted to paper re of very good Paper are made fn the German-Towns as also very fin ierman Linen, suchas no person of Quality need be asham'd to wear.
