And I worked as the junior unday ch 1 c rdin t r for sixteen years, would you believe that? BEC: That's a long time. DEL: And then I worked in the mutual with the young women, which I enjoyed. And I was on a bowling league. I like to bowl. And I used to golf all the time and then I got him started to golfing and so we went golfing together and bowling together and fishing together, going on vacation. BEC: Wow, that's great. DEL: And he liked yard sales. And so I'd go to all the yard sales and we'd go to all the-but he'd go shopping me, I liked shopping, and when we went shopping, looking at guns, tools. I was interested in what he was interested in, but I think a good marriage, you need communication and you also have to have your space. And consideration. I know he wouldn't mind but I'd say, "The gals have asked me to go out to dinner. Do you mind?" And he'd say, "No." But it was just the idea. I asked him. I knew he'd say it was okay but it's just being considerate. BEC: That's great. And that's why you were married for fifty-four and a-half years. DEL: Yeah, it would have been fifty-five on June 30th. Oh, and then, what he did to me was really wonderful. He wasn't a member of the church. He went a lot but he never did care that I went. When he had his first heart attack and he was home all the time, he went over to the bishop and he said, "I want to surprise Della on our twenty-fifth anniversary." He said, "I want to be baptized into the church and surprise her." And that's 27 |
