Show D LLAM.P TTY RJ 2002 much. In 197 5 he had his first heart attack and then he couldn t rk an m r . H forty-five years old. BEC: Oh, my gosh. DEL: My husband had three heart attacks and then he had a mini-strok and then he got diabetes in 1980, but you'd never know he was sick because he was such a wonderful man; he never complained, never, ever, ever. BEC: He was just a happy person. How did he finally die? DEL: Well, in 1998, he had a real bad heart attack and they really thought he was going to die. He started filling up really bad with water and then his diabetes got all out of control, but he come around okay. And then in 1999 he had a mini-stroke and he come out of that okay except he couldn't write and then his heart just started slowing down and then they had to keep giving him medications because his heart was so bad. They told him he was going to have to go on the dialysis machine, but he died before that happened. BEC: It was a combination of things. DEL: Yeah. It was heart and kidneys. We had a wonderful life. We have two children-! lost two in between them-but I have a son and he' s a lieutenant in the County Sheriffs department, and I have a daughter, she works for Primrose Sonntag. Then my son-in-law, he used to work for the state, but he's retired. And my daughter-inlaw, she's director for the United Cerebral Palsy and she's worked there for a long time; she's really a talented little gal. And I have six grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren. I have two grandsons and four granddaughters, and I have two greatgrandsons and two great-granddaughters. 7 |
