Title Moving a Building by Trains
Creator Thiriat, Henri
Subject Moving of structures; Bodies of water; Railroad locomotives
Description In the left middle ground is a very long, low (most sections no higher than three stories) building, probably of frame construction, seen from behind. The front, which faces a large body of water, has four turrets, with a fifth on the back side at the right. Laid out behind the building are between 20 and 24 parallel lines of track. In the right foreground are two three-locomotive teams shown pulling the building by means of cables attached at a dozen or more points along its base. There are well over 100 spectators in the left foreground. In the right middle ground is a beach, at the farthest end of which a pier juts out into the body of water. In the background something, possibly an island, is visible on the horizon.
