The first thing done was to register in our convention roster \.,rhich Eddie Aro started last yea-I'. Betty Aro '.TaS actin~ hostess end took care of the roster and pinned the convention badges on the ones \,Tho registered. A short meotin~ of instructors was held on candidate school. Introduction of candidates and instructors was held on the porch and brief address given by president and sucretary and ~ddie Aro and Tommi Tyndall. Candidates went skiing with Stan Tomlinson. Instructors met to iron out nelf ideas on ski tests for candidates, these new ideas being brou~ht up by Bob Brelsford. There was a lot of discussion and vie decided on a new form of candidate school. Everyone going through the school advancing from one instructor to the next in production line fashion. All c.s.ndidato!l being exposed to the same instructors and every instructor 3pecializing on one PQrt of ski teaching. Committees were sot up to serve durin~ the convontion. By-laws were discussEd and a committee was set up to bring our by-laws up to date. ivleeting lasted till 5:30 P.lI. so \<Je had only a short break before dinner .. Dinner 6· - 9 P .h. 9:00 P.M. Hovies. Luigi Fueger's Yosemite movie on teL-ching and skiing in Yosemite. The movie was very wall received. Then Sepp Benedikter shm-red movie of the ski jump c.l t Pomona 80. Cal., its building and operation. J Tuesday, April 22, 1952, Candidato School. 9:00 A.M. Got underway promptly in assembly line fashion. Minute facts of fundamentals taught by each instructor to all candidatos. From all reports of c2.ndidates GOing throu~h the school this manner of conducting tho school is by far tho most satisfactory \'lay we have tried so far. Thu dononstration'was superb, well presented in minute detail. comprehensive 2nd conclusive. Free skiing for instructors not busy in candidate school. Lunch 1:30 P.M. Election of directors. Our by-laws call for a Board of Directors of minimum 11 and maximum 21 members. For some years we have neglected to kc:op our board filled vIi th nc ti ve members so it wa s proposed and voted on, and the decision is we now have 7 directors with a three year term, 7 diractors with n two year term, and 7 ~ directors for one yc~r. Very enjoyablo nnd lively. Then Eric Johnson drew sono cartoons for us while he explainod his work and it was good end funny. Tho bust was of Dod1a Post who whon finish0d and turnod over was upside down h~nging in Q trae, skis and all. Last was an imitator who works in Squaw Valley and h<.: brought the house dm"n several times. The results were read at 5:00 P.M. By that time everyone had a bad caso of ants in pants. Footnote: This 1952 spring convention of the F1rr;-;IA association was by far the best attended and m8st successful meeting we have eve~ h~d in the life of our organization since it was founded in 1939. .
