Show "The Boomerang," the annual school play, presented by the University of Utah Dramatic Club, was given at the Salt Lake Theatre on December 7th and 8th. The play was under the supervision of Miss Maude May Babcock, dramatic coach, and Mr. Chauncey Houstman, assistant coach. Those who selected the play exercised judgment, for it proved to be particularly adapted to the desires of the students. It would have been difficult to cast the parts better in dramatic circles, for anyone who witnessed a performance will not forget Harry Allen's interpretation of Budd Woodbridge. We were particularly pleased with Ernest Hansen's acting in the role of Dr. Gerald Sumner, and Donna Jones's artistic treatment of the role of a sympathizing and beautiful nurse, Virginia Velva. The whole cast played the different parts in excellent fashion and produced admirable characterizations. Julia Seymour and Harry Allen combined their skill in designing the sets for the play, which were unusually effective and attractive. 186 |
