Note |
The University of Utah has made former and current yearbooks from various campus entities available in print and via its digital library archive. These documents contain facts and milestones about the history of the University of Utah. In some cases, these publications contain insensitive and offensive language and imagery that does not represent the views or values of the University of Utah. Insensitive and offensive portrayals of race and gender were wrong at the time these publications were originally printed, and they are wrong today. The yearbooks are presented as they were originally created and have not been edited or censored-to do otherwise would be the same as claiming these prejudices and biases never existed. - July 2019 |

Show BATTERY TWO ROUNDS, THREE SIX-HUN-DRAD!! Daily we hear the guns announcing that the University of Utah is training its graduates to be leaders in time of military necessity as well as in civil pursuits. And the R. O. T. C. boys seem to have lots of fun doing it. Here we see a section of Seniors steeple-chasing on white horses; there a class of Juniors firing a battery; then a section of Sophs engrossed in the complications of a radio set; yonder a number of Frosh busily engaged with automatic forty-fives trying to find the bulls-eye. Diversity and recreation! That's what R. O. T. C. training means to the busy student. His reward will be robust health and a reserve Officer's commission to go with his diploma. We remember when the Reserve Officers' Training Corps of this institution numbered less than one hundred. Today it numbers over three hundred, having in its prodigious growth assimilated the University Band. The unit has trebled its strength during the schoolastic year. We attribute this to the favorable sentiment on the campus among both student body and faculty and to the fact that the Professor of Military Science and Tactics has built up a course of instruction which the students really enjoy. 170 |
