Show T©eei§ Team The University of Utah tennis team, consisting of Captain Art Miller, Bob Goodell, Brick Whitney, Hal Bennett and Mel Gallacher has enjoyed one of the most successful seasons that the school has had for many a moon. Early in the spring, Art Miller was elected to lead the Ute net men and the year's success is mainly due to his never ending industrious attitude. Under his management the annual tournament was conducted and the University champion determined. Mel Gallacher, who two years ago was ranked the second best player in the state, showed that he still possesses the skill and cunning of stroke that has proven to be the nemesis of bigger opponents, by copping the single's title from Bob Goodell in a clever encounter. He will receive a handsome solid medal presented by the Utah Chronicle. From the showing made in the meet, Coach Theron Parmlee picked the following men on his tennis squad: Art Miller, Bob Goodell, Hal Bennett, Hardin Whitney, Mel Gallacher, Frank Loynd, Allan Christensen, Lee Christensen, Dudley Mays, George Paul and Howard Tang. In the first match of the season, the Crimson net artists won a close victory over the "Y" racqueteers. They followed this up with a decisive win over the State champions from Logan, the Aggies. A slight set back was suffered when they lost three matches and the meet to the "Y" in their second clash with the Provoites. However, the A. C. accomodated us very nicely by trimming the Garden City collegians and making a Utah University state championship possible. At the present writing the final contest with Logan has yet to be played. Should we win, the banner is ours, after two long years of absence. In case a loss is sustained the schools will be knotted in a triple tie. The goal that the boys are looking forward to with keen interest is the Rocky Mountain Conference Collegiate tennis meet which is scheduled to be held in Colorado Springs conjunction with the track meet.
