Show JANUARY 14.-The Fortune Tea given by the Theta girls at their home was a novel and original affair. The rooms and small fortune booths were delightfully Japanese and oriental.JANUARY 16.-A new tradition has been added to our college lore. Utonian Tag Day, in spite of the stage fright that usually accompanies a first appearance, made her first bow to the public gracefully and was received with great enthusiasm. Mr. Snow, with his effective jokes and pointed remarks, soon convinced the "Westerners" of the value of the Utonian for its own sake. It was Tag vs. Tag, and Tag prevailed.JANUARY 19.-The class feud between the Sophomores and Freshmen is on in dead earnest, as is attested by many hair-cuts, heated discussions, and special watchmen. A 17, a 16-a splash of green-another 17 and 16, showed the various stages and victories in the numeral war, but now only a somber square of black remains to mark the place of conflict.JANUARY 22.-The Emery Memorial House, a gift from Mrs. Thomas J. Emery of Cincinnati, held its first reception for the students and faculty members. The visitors were taken on a tour of investigation and fittingly impressed by the many conveniences, the delightful swimming pool and billiard room.JANUARY 30.-Breathless excitement continued throughout the first Inter-Collegiate Basketball Game of the season, between the U. of U. and B. Y. C, and was only relieved when the whistle blew, with the score 35-34 in favor of Utah.Prom WeekMONDAY.-Whiskered visages, boots and old clothes distinguished the Musical Society matinee dances as a jolly informal affair.TUESDAY.-Everyone enjoyed making the rounds of the Fraternity houses where they were "dined," "wined," and entertained royally.WEDNESDAY.-The Sorority houses were gay with flowers and melody, while the gracious hostesses served tempting ices and tea.THURSDAY.-While the Prom committee was busily decorating at the hotel, the Emery Dormitory entertained informally for student friends.FRIDAY.-The Ninth Annual Junior Promenade blazed brilliantly forth in the ball-rooms of the Hotel Utah. Wonderful decorations in Richmond roSes-pulsating music, charming programs, beautiful dancers-ah, the memory of it remains as the brightest light of all the year's bright rays!204 |
