Show "Central Utah participating project. - The committee agrees with the House of Representatives approval of an additional $4,800,000 for the Bonneville unit of the Central Utah participating project. Because of circumstances which arose, an increased amount provided last year for this project was not utilized for the project. The committee expects that all of the funds provided in this bill for the Bonneville unit will be applied to this project in fiscal year 1967." Similar language had also been included by the House Committee in its report on the Bill. The Conference Committee (House Report No. 2216, October 10, 1966) concurred with the Senate version of the Bill and recommended an appropriation of $50,198,000 for the Colorado River Storage Project and participating projects. The Conference Report was approved by the House of Representatives on October 11, 1966, and by the Senate on October 12, 1966. The Public Works Appropriation Act for 1967 (H. R. 17787) again contains language with reference to the protection of Rainbow Bridge National Monument, as follows: "Provided, That no part of the funds herein appropriated shall be available for construction or operation of facilities to prevent waters of Lake Powell from entering any national monument." Table IX (a) illustrates a general recapitulation of action by the Second Session of the 89th Congress with regard to appropriations of funds for the construction program of the Colorado River Storage Project and participating projects. 65 |
