Show As a step in alleviating water shortages on the Eden Project a contract in the amount of $461,981 was awarded for lining selected sections of the Means Canal and West Side Lateral on January 21, 1966. The work under this contract is to be completed in 1967. F. POTENTIAL STORAGE UNITS 1. Gray Canyon Preliminary cost estimates recently prepared on a high dam below the mouth of the Price River, to ultilize the 500 feet of power generating head in the Gray Canyon segment of the Green River, were higher than anticipated. With these cost estimates the potential development is not feasible. Before reporting unfavorably, the Bureau of Reclamation decided to study two damsites farther upstream in the Gray Canyon section of the Green River as alternate sites to the Price River site. These sites may preclude any feasible irrigation development proposed in the original plan, but might provide a feasible development for power, municipal and industrial water, fish and wildlife, and recreation uses. A reconnaissance report is scheduled for completion later in fiscal year 1967. G. POTENTIAL PROJECTS In carrying out further investigations of projects under Federal Reclamation Laws in the Upper Colorado River Basin, the Secretary of the Interior is directed to give priority to completion of planning reports on 25 projects. Brief descriptions of these projects are to be found in the Commission's Eighth Annual Report. The Bureau of Reclamation, so far as limited funds and personnel will permit, is continuing its studies on these projects. Considerable progress in investigations has been accomplished during the past year. 1. CONGRESSIONAL AUTHORIZATION PENDING Feasibility reports on five Colorado projects, namely, Animas-La Plata Project, Dallas Creek Project, Dolores Project, San Miguel Project, and West Divide Project, have been transmitted to the Congress.
