John Morgan, the cotnmon ancestor of John Hamilton Morgan. settled in Virginia, where his descerldants resided until 1798. when Garrard Morgan, Jr., the grandfather of our John Morgan emigrated to Carlisle, Nichola.s Co. • Kentucky. where on January 11 . 1833 he married Sarah Sanderson who had emigrated £ttottl North Carolina. . and from this union six children were b.orn; five boys and one girl. This family became one of Kentucky•s most noted; three of the boys married three sisters in the well-known Henry Bruce family of Flemingsbu.rg, Fleming County , Kentucky. John Sanderson Morgan who married Eleanor Bruce, served at Frankfort, in the ,Kentucky State House of Rep• resentatives as a member of and President ot the State Senate. He was also the promoter of and first President of the first railroad to operate in that state .
