Show started at daybreak and walked back to Heywood Valley . And so was born this tract which, during the intervening years, has been a very important factor in the presentation o£ the gospel to the peoples of the wo:rld. It was the first of its kind used in missionary work in the Vnited States , the standard works o£ the Church and the writings of Orson Pratt and others being used almost exclusively up to that time. Its publication was paid for by John Morgan, and its distribution was general, several weeks before the church authorities knew of its existence. In a letter to Elder Morgan from President John Taylor, dated July 19, 1878, President Taylor in a postscript stated that he 11would like a copy of the tract you have lately published. " , And so an epistle was written; a tract was born; and a new nlethod inaugul" ated for the presentation of the restored gospel of J esus Christ to the peoples of the world. Since the day of its first publication ,· i t has been one of the most sought lor and the most effective instruments in the hands of the elders of the Church in bringing to the attention of the children of men and principles of the gospel in the great plan of salvation. Millions of copies have been published and distributed in many languages and in all parts of the world where the gospel has been preached. At the present time more than a quarter of a million copies are being printed and distributed annually . |
