IK Did you maintain any correspondence with anyone in Japan? Y'f Yes I did. MY older sister. IK Did you tell your sister al:xJut your hardships and problems you had? Y'f Yes, I did. She was happy to hear fran ne and sent ne pictures of her growing children, three sons an::i three daughters. And I would send tlsn pictures, too. IK Did your sister ever call you l:ack or encourage you to ccrce l:ack to Japan? Actually, I would have liked to see them arxi visit. IK In your own mind, did you find yourself yearning for Japan? Was it still important to you? 'f'l Way back, I did want to go back. We l:xmght the fann in 1937. It was after the war that we had enough rroney to go back rut all It'!Y children left hl::rce. I think we were really blessed. n.tring the war, ~e was a garage, Washh.lrn, ~ewe brought our gasoline and had our car repaired. During that tine, the owner of the garage said, "George, you always wanted a Buick. As soon as the war ends, why don't you order a Buick. If you nake a dep:>sit of $100.00 now, I can get you one. " Around 1958 we were the first ones in Oran to own the best Buick, SUper, four doors. It was just $800.00. Everyone was really surprised to see George with such a car. The children were so happy.
