You're right...It's San Francisco trio Paradise Lost, back for their second Salt Lake gig. We sold out last year ... you loved it! The concert is Saturday, October 5th, at the Day Murray Music Recital Hall on 4914 South State. Performance time is seven thirty. Paradise Lost is an exciting new trio of SF Bay area musical veterans who combine a wide variety of styles from around the world. They lovingly blend the influences of global cultures with the Scottish and Irish dance tunes, moving from fiery dance tunes to haunting aires and rich vocal selections. They transform the concert stage into an intimate living room, and invite you to have a seat by the fire. Among them, Paradise Lost fields twenty years of diverse musical experience. Maureen Brennan is a respected American master of the Irish harp, equally at home with bardic aires and accompaniments of rapidfire session tunes. Brian Theriault's fiddling can only be described as "one of a kind"; taking a tum from the traditional, he combines rock and blues roots for a fresh take on familiar repertory. As for Michael Harmon, his mellow vocals and more-thanordinary guitar backup add a dimension to Paradise Lost's sound which sets them far apart from the traditional three-piece session band. The driving rhythm guitar is a great surprise when combined with the lyric sensitivity of his vocal interpretations ... this guy stops your heart with the tone, folks. Tickets are available at Acoustic Music, Day Murray Music, The Gypsy Moon Emporium, and The Lost Arts Gallery. For information or 'will call" tickets, please call268-3881. Last year was just a beginning ... they're better, tighter, and the CD is available! HOPE TO SEE YOU ALL THERE. |
