Show S'-?il% Department of Near Eastern Studies University of Michigan Ann Arbor, Michigan July 7, 1955 Dr. Aziz S. Atiya ll| Sharia Wadi el-Nil Maadi,- Egypt Dear Dr. Atiya: I am so sorry that the Pasquariellos misunderstood my intentions, and plead your indulgence that I did not immediately follow.up, in concrete terras, my verbal statement to them that I would rent the house for you. I have"no excuse. Mrs. Cameron1s illness has left me so that I have been paying much too little attention to my business here at the University. Please be assured that we shall have waiting for you upon your arrival, a house or an apartment in which you will be happy to spend your months with us and in which we shall be happy to have you live. So, set your mind at ease on this score. Never, in my life, have I met with a man who so dislikes to correspond as Mr. Miller of the Mediaeval Academy at Harvard University. I am persuaded that he will reply to my importuning letters soon, and I am quite sure that you may Count, on having the #1000 travel grant awaiting you upon your arrival. Obviously you must have some money immediately available; jUst as Obviously, we are in a position to see that you get it, and;we shall do so. The Pasquariellos are delightful people andJ were just not aware that I have been so much out of the office. At the moment, Mrs. Cameron is no longer critically ill, although she continues•to be miserably so. In any event, I shall endeavor to have my Wits about me more fully from this time henceforth. Mrs. Atiya* s; delightful letter to Mrs. Pasquariello I can myself answer in small part to this extent .- that you need bring no radio with you, for if the house which you will be living in has none, we have an extra one which we will be happy to have you use. Sincerely,I George G. Cameron GGC:cg |
