Show ~eri(lan athletic teams were chosen for foreign COJ!'l petition in 1931 and 1935 . The selection of the team was based on performences . The men picked for the teams were among the most outstanding athletes in the United States . One team toured South Africa , the otfher finland, Norway , Poland, and Denmark . Nathan Long , University of Utah sprinter , 1928- 1931, was chosen to tour South Africa and Knewe11 K. Rushforth , University of Utah high jumper , 1932- 1935, to tour northern European (lountries . Large and enthusiastic crowds turned out for the track meets , and tmms, cities and municip~lities honored in various ways the distinguished athletes from the United States . Mr . Lon8 traveled about 25,000 miles and brought honor to his Alma Mater . The localities, dates , competi tors, and results, and the places gained by Mr .
