Show MOZART CYCLE Celebrating the two hundredth anniversary of the birth of Mozart, the Utah Symphony and the University of Utah presented a Mozart Cycle. Aimed as a tribute to Mozart, the schedule of events included a diversified program. Combining the talents of the University Chorale and the Utah Symphony, the series opened in late January. In addition there was a concert in February featuring Gladys Gladstone and a concert in March. The finale for the cycle was the "Marriage of Figaro," presented in Kingsbury Hall in late March. UNIVERSITY SYMPHONY Harold Wolfe, director of the University Symphony Orchestra, spent many hours with his students in preparation for their several concerts. The Orchestra includes in its personnel many faculty members. The highlight of their season was their appearance with the "At Home Programs" in mid-April. Professor Richard P. Condie, tenor, of the U. of U. Music Department staff, was vocal soloist for the concert. Other numbers included works written by University faculty members. 114 |
