Description (1876) The twenty-second legislature in 1876 authorized compilation of all statutes then in force. The poorly organized compilations of 1855, 1866 and 1870 finally gave way to a modernized codification topically arranged by broad subject titles, in some cases, more specific chapters within titles, and numbered sections. Additionally, each section throughout the compilation is given a separate consecutive number. Reference is made to these in a content summary preceding each title or section. A much more thorough index is provided. No separate session law volume was published for 1876.

Description 138 COMPILED LAWS OF UTAH. when finding been committed on the deceased and name the person whom not to be made •*¦ public. the jury believe has committed it, the inquest shall not be made public until after the arrest directed in the next section. (249.) Sec. 14. If the person charged be present, the coroner or justice of the peace may order his arrest by an officer or any other person present, and shall there make a warrant requiring the officer or other person to take him before a justice of the peace. Same- (250.) Sec. 15. If the person charged be not present and the coroner or justice of the peace believes that he can be taken, the coroner or justice of the peace may issue a warrant to the sheriff and constables of the county requiring them to arrest the person and take him before a justice of the peace, when he shall be dealt with as a person held under a complaint in the usual form. toconSrant (251.) Sec. 16. The warrant of the coroner or justice of the peace shall substantially recite the transactions before him and the verdict of the jury of inquest leading to the arrest, and such warrant shall be a, sufficient foundation for the proceeding of the justice, instead of a complaint. returned? be (252.) Sec. 17. The coroner or justice of the peace shall return to the probate court the inquisition, the written evidence, and a list of the witnesses who testify material matter. Disposition of (253.) Sec. 18. The coroner or justice of the peace shall cause the body of a deceased person, which he is called to view, to be delivered to his friends, if any be present or within convenient distance; but if not, he shall cause it to be decently buried and the expense to be paid from any property of the deceased, or if there be none, from the county treasury, by certifying an account of the expenses, which, being presented to the county court, shall be allowed by them, if deemed reasonable, or so much thereof as they may deem reasonable, and paid as other claims on the county.
