All were drawn by Catherine Patillo, American West Center, University of Utah. Ms. Patillo also designed and redrew the cover. The cover carries the logo of the Uintah-Ouray Ute Tribe. It was designed in 1981 by Albert Manning, Jr. The eagle represents the spirit of the People. It is a bird sacred to us. The three Indians represent the three bands which comprise the Northern Utes â€" the Uintah, the White River, and the Uncompahgre. They hold onto the peace pipe as a symbol of friendship and unity.
